Description

The Start WorkSpaces Workspaces action can be used to start one or more Amazon WorkSpaces workspaces at a specific time of day. The workspaces can be optionally stopped after a specified amount of time.

For example, 3 workspaces can be started automatically at 8am.

Note that only workspaces configured as "AutoStop" can be started or stopped.

Workspace Identification Method

Indicates the method in which workspaces are selected. Possible options include:

  • By Workspace ID - Specify specific workspace IDs to stop

  • By User Name - Selects workspaces by their user's user name

  • By Resource Tag - Selects workspaces by comparing any resource tag

  • All Workspaces - Selects all workspaces

Workspaces IDs

Indicates the list of workspace IDs of the workspaces that are to be started. This value usually looks like "ws-fjjx31vrl". These workspaces must reside in the region specified.

User Names

Specifies the user names of the users whose workspaces are to be started.

Resource Tag Name

The name of the resource tag used to select the workspaces.

Resource Tag Value

The resource tag value used to select the workspaces.

Stop the Workspaces

Indicate whether the workspaces should be stopped after they are started.

Running Duration

Indicates the length of time in which the workspaces should be running before they are stopped.

Amazon Commands Used

The following Amazon AWS commands are used. The credentials should have permission to execute all of them.

  • workspaces:DescribeTags

  • workspaces:DescribeWorkspaces

  • workspaces:StartWorkspaces

  • workspaces:StopWorkspaces
